Cooker Circuit Installation
A dedicated cooker circuit is required as soon as you move to induction or an electric range. We install a separate circuit or Perilex outlet so your hob works safely and at full output.

Why a dedicated circuit?
An induction hob draws far more current than a gas hob ever did — commonly 7 kW or more. Running that from a general socket circuit overloads it, trips the breaker and, over time, heats the cable. Dutch practice and NEN 1010 both call for a dedicated circuit.
Perilex or two phases?
Which you need depends on the appliance. A Perilex outlet is the standard Dutch five-pin connection used by most hobs and ranges. Larger appliances may need two phases from a three-phase supply. We check the appliance plate before quoting, so you are not paying for capacity you will never use.
What determines the price
- The distance from the consumer unit to the kitchen
- Whether the consumer unit has a spare way
- Whether the cable can be run through existing conduit
- Perilex outlet or a hard-wired connection
Timed around your kitchen fitters
We can attend before the kitchen goes in, so the cable is already in place, or after, to make the final connection. If you give us the fitter’s details we will coordinate directly with them.
Frequently asked questions about cooker circuit installation
What does a cooker circuit cost?
It depends mainly on the cable run and whether the consumer unit has a free way. You receive one fixed price after a free survey, which can often be done from photographs.
Do I need Perilex or three-phase?
Most induction hobs work from a Perilex outlet. Ranges and professional appliances sometimes need two phases. We check the rating plate first.
How long does it take?
A straightforward installation takes two to four hours. If chasing is needed, allow most of a day.
Can I do this myself?
Legally you may, but a cooker circuit runs at high current and an error is a fire risk. It also has to be certified for your insurer and any future sale.
Can the hob run from an existing circuit?
Only for a small single-zone hob. A full induction hob always needs its own circuit.
