When is it an emergency?
Call immediately — and switch off the main breaker — if you smell burning, see sparks, hear crackling, or find a socket that has become hot. These are situations where waiting is genuinely dangerous.
What to do until we arrive
- Burning smell or sparks: main breaker off, do not switch back on
- Tripped circuit: unplug appliances and try switching on once
- If it will not reset, leave it and wait for the engineer
- Do not use extension leads as a temporary fix
- Keep the meter cupboard accessible and make sure someone is present
What does it cost?
A fixed emergency rate applies, which you hear before we set off — including at night and at weekends. There are no call-out charges and no after-the-fact adjustments. In roughly nine out of ten cases we resolve the problem during the same visit.
