When do you need three phases?

A single-phase Dutch connection is usually rated at 1x35A, roughly 8 kW. That was ample for a gas-heated home. It is not enough once you add several of the following:

An EV charger of 11 kW or more
A heat pump
An induction hob and an electric oven
Solar panels with a large inverter
Workshop machinery or catering equipment

Upgrade or rebalance?

Not every overload needs a bigger supply. Sometimes the existing capacity is simply distributed badly across the phases, with everything heavy on one of them. We measure first. If rebalancing solves it, we tell you so — it is considerably cheaper than an upgrade.

Whether the consumer unit has to be rebuilt or replaced
The number of circuits to be redistributed

What does a three-phase upgrade cost?

Two amounts: our installation work, quoted at a fixed price, and the grid operator's connection charge, which is a published tariff. We set both out separately.

How long does it take?

Our own work is typically one day. The grid operator normally needs several weeks to schedule, so allow for that lead time.

Do I really need three phases?

Not always. We measure your actual load first — rebalancing the existing phases is often enough and costs far less.

Who submits the application?

We do. We handle the application to the grid operator and coordinate the appointment.

Will my energy bill go up?

The standing charge for the connection rises. Your consumption does not change simply because more capacity is available.
