Sockets where you actually need them

Most Dutch homes were wired for far fewer appliances than we use now. If extension leads have become permanent fixtures, that is not a tidiness problem — a daisy-chained lead behind a sofa is one of the more common causes of domestic fires.

From single to double, or a whole wall

Converting a single socket to a double is usually a short job. Adding a run along a wall, or wiring a home office or media wall, takes longer but gives a far better result than adapters.

Lighting and switches

We fit ceiling roses, spotlights, outdoor and garden lighting, two-way switching and dimmers. LED dimming in particular needs a dimmer matched to the lamps, otherwise you get flicker or buzz — we bring the right one.

What determines the price

• How many points you want in one visit
• Whether cable can be surface-run or has to be chased in
• The distance to the consumer unit
• Whether a new circuit is required

Combining several small jobs into one visit is markedly cheaper than booking them separately.

Fitting a socket safely

Every new point is tested and, where required, added to the installation record. We check that the circuit it joins can carry the additional load rather than simply assuming it can.
