Electrical damage report for your insurer
An electrical damage report records what happened after electrical damage, what the technical cause is and what damage resulted from it. That way your insurer or their loss adjuster can assess the claim on the basis of facts, photos and measurements.

An insurer decides on what has been established. Our report puts the facts, the cause and the photos in one document, usually within about an hour of the inspection.

When do you need an electrical damage report?
After fire, melting, short-circuit or surge damage, the insurer often asks for the cause. A repair quote does not answer that question: it says what needs replacing, not why things went wrong.
An electrical damage report does. It describes the facts, the technical cause and the extent of the damage, with photos and measurements, so the claim can be handled concretely and verifiably.
- Technical cause
- Extent of the damage
- Photo report
- Measurements
- Sudden or gradual

From a melted fuse box to appliances that failed after a thunderstorm.
Fire or melting damage
Charred wiring, melted plastic or soot in the fuse box or at a connection. We establish where the heat developed.
Short circuit with damage
A loud bang, black marks or burnt-out parts. We look for the cause, not just the failed component.
Surge after a thunderstorm
Several appliances broken at once after a storm or a grid fault? We assess whether the damage fits an overvoltage.
Water damage to wiring
A leak in or near the meter cupboard, bathroom or kitchen. We record which parts are affected and what is safe.
Appliance or installation?
With a broken washing machine, boiler or heat pump, we establish whether the cause lies in the appliance or in the installation.
Damage after work by others
Did the damage appear after a renovation or after work by another installer? We record the technical connection.
Rental home or VvE
For landlords, managing agents and owners' associations: one report that owner, tenant and insurer can all use.
Commercial premises
We also record cause and extent after damage in a commercial building, so the claim does not stall.
What does the insurer want to know?
A claims handler or loss adjuster asks four questions, broadly speaking. Our electrical damage report answers all four, with evidence:
- What happened? The factual findings, with a photo of every finding.
- What is the cause? The technical mechanism, supported by measurements.
- Was it sudden or gradual? Many Dutch home insurance policies distinguish between a sudden, unforeseen event and damage caused by wear or gradual deterioration. How your policy handles this is in your terms and conditions; we describe technically what happened, so the distinction can be made on solid grounds.
- What needs repairing? Concrete repair advice, independent of who carries out the repair.

How we record damage
This close-up comes from one of our investigations: melting damage and soot on the rail and housing of a fuse box. A picture like this only helps an insurer when it has been recorded in context:
- Overview photos of the fuse box and its surroundings, before anything is touched.
- Close-ups of every piece of damage, with a caption in the report.
- Measurements on the affected circuit and on the rest of the installation.
- Removed parts are photographed and kept for you, so a loss adjuster can assess them later.
A report or just a repair quote?
A quote tells you what the repair costs. A report tells you why things went wrong, and that is what the insurer asks.
| Electrical damage report | Repair quote only | |
|---|---|---|
| Technical cause | Established and substantiated | Usually not described |
| Photo report | For every finding | Sometimes a single photo |
| Measurements | Result and assessment | Not included |
| Sudden or gradual | Technically substantiated | Not assessed |
| Independent of repair | Yes | No, it is a sales document |
| Usable by a loss adjuster | Yes, verifiable | Limited |

Why insurers can work with our report
Technical specialist
We specialise in electrical installations and take our own measurements, instead of only describing what is visible.
No stake in the outcome
The report is separate from the repair. We describe what is there, not what anyone wants to hear.
Complete file
Facts, measurements, photos and NEN 1010 assessment in one document a loss adjuster can check.
Quickly available
Usually within about an hour of the inspection, so the claim does not stall.
Frequently asked questions about an electrical damage report
Will the insurer pay for the report?
That depends on your policy and the situation. Under Dutch law, with property insurance the insurer in principle reimburses the reasonable costs you incur to establish the damage (Article 7:959 of the Dutch Civil Code). Check with your insurer or broker beforehand.
How much does an electrical damage report cost?
The price is on request, depending on the extent of the damage and the installation. You always receive a price in advance.
How quickly do I get the report?
Usually within about an hour of completing the inspection. If further investigation is needed, we tell you in advance.
Is the report in English?
The report is written in Dutch, because Dutch insurers and loss adjusters work in Dutch. We explain the findings to you in English. If you also need the report itself in English, mention it when you book and we will tell you what is possible.
Should I wait to repair until the insurer agrees?
If there is immediate danger, the installation must be made safe. Have the damage recorded first, and check with your insurer before the final repair. We can record and make safe in one visit.
The insurer is sending its own loss adjuster. Do I still need a report?
Not always. Our report can actually help the adjuster, because it substantiates the electrical cause. If you disagree with the adjuster's conclusion, we can carry out a counter-expertise.
Can you establish whether damage was caused by a surge?
We assess whether the damage fits an overvoltage, for example when several appliances failed at once after a thunderstorm or a grid fault, and record which parts of the installation are affected.
What if the damage has already been repaired?
Then we work with what is left: photos you took, removed parts and the current state of the installation. The more complete that material is, the stronger the report.
Have the damage recorded independently
Tell us briefly what happened, when, and whether you are already in touch with your insurer. We will contact you about your question, the price and the planning. Immediate danger? Call 085 505 5457 (from abroad: +31 85 505 5457).
